WLC 2504 - Configure a backup unit

I have set up a WLC 2504. all working well.

I now need to configure a secondary unit, in case the primary ever fails, I am using the express set up and have configured a different managment IP,

but how can I get the config accross from the other unit? can I just use the config and change hostname and IP and upload it? I dont really want to configure the whole thing again.

Hi,

If you have same type of model and same software version on both WLC then you can copy from primary , then change the Host-name , IP address and upload to secondary unit.

This is what I was hoping! so if I unplug the existing WLC from the network, plug in the secondary one and upload the primary config. then change the management IP and hostname?

the article says "Configure both WLC’s and just make sure the hostname and IP address used for management and the dynamic interfaces are different"

I dont want the dynamic interfaces to be different, only managment surely?

Step1: Coyp conifg from Active WLC(Primary)

Step2: Make necessary changes to conifg and upload to secondary.

***** Its must to change the Management IP, Hostname and Dynamic interface IP address.

Step3: Connect to live network
