APIC controller management (M) interface question

Hello,

I'm able to play with e1/1 and access to the APIC controller from http://192.168.10.2 just fine. Somehow I'd like to connect the management interface (M) to our local network switch so I can access the APIC controller from my network and not go thru the leaf but it doesn't seem to work for me. The local network switch is working fine, it's just me that I can't get the M interface to work.  Any idea?

Thanks.

  • Simply configure OOB (out of band) manangement instead of INBAND. Make sure to unconfigure the INBAND management since INBAND takes precedence over OOB.
  • http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/aci/apic/sw/1-x/getting-started/b_APIC_Getting_Started_Guide/b_APIC_Getting_Started_Guide_chapter_01.html#task_B269F0341EA744899DE3CF987DC0A42FO
  • Once you have OOB management configured, connect the management interface to an "ACCESS" port on your external switch which is in the management VLAN.
  • You should be able to access the APIC OOB from your management network.

Cheers

For the external switch, do you configure it as L3 with the management Vlan's SVI in there or you configure it as L2 with the SVI inside the fabric?

Management port for OOB is an "ACCESS" port in your management VLAN
