Standby to active APIC Controller

Yacine BS

Hello,

We have a cluster of 3 APICs, 2 has been configured as active and the third one has been configured by mere error as standby. We have made some changes in the active APIC such as OOB IPs and credentials. Now we are unable to login to the third APIC. Two questions arise here:

- Is there a default login and password for the APIC or a way to access it?

-Is there a wway to change the mode of the APIC from standby to active without replacing another active one, so we can have 3 active APICs?

Thanks,

Hello Yacine,

You can use rescue-user account to login and see if that works. Try your normal APIC password. This would work if the APIC was in sync with the cluster. Otherwise try without any password.

To answer your second question, it would be best to clean the APIC3 and configure it from scratch as active APIC. Make sure that you have KVM access to the APIC and run below commands.

acidiag touch clean

acidiag touch setup

acidiag reboot

This will reload the APIC and come back on startup script where you can configure the APIC as active APIC.

Thank you Ganesh for your reply,

It was heplful, but the rescue-user only authentified using "password" as a password.
