Disk Partitions on WAE-512

Hi,

I have outputs from 2 WAE-512s, 1st one is showing all the partitions and the second doesn't match the 1st one. Which command do I run on the 2nd WAE to recreate all the partitions? Is there a performance issue with the 2nd one because I don't see objc1 which I think is the CIFS caching partition.

Are both the wae-512's running the same software version or different WAAS software version?

Regards

-Smita

Both are running version 4.2.1.

How can I tell from the 2nd one, what the CIFS cache utlitization is?

If I decide to run the disk delete partition command, which one do I want to run?

disk ?
delete-data-partitions  Delete data partitions (Data on GUEST (if virtual
blade is configured), CONTENT and PRINTSPOOL
                          partitions will be lost)
delete-partitions       Delete all disk partitions on a specified disk drive
                          (disk data will be lost)
scan-errors             Scan disk for errors and remap if possible

John,

You can use the CLI command

pdi-574-rtp#sh cifs cache disk-use

807104512

Or check the WAE GUI for disk usage
https://:8443/mgr
Lastly, run the disk delete-data-partitions command.

Mike

John,

Even one of my wae-512's running WAAS 4.3 was showing the same partitions as your 2nd mounted partition output.

I ran the disk delete-partitions all command and then reloaded the wae and now its showing the /obj1 partitions, basically matching the WAAS 4.1 and above software disk partitions.

Only caveat is when you use the above command you will loose all the disk content. Also it will take some time for the disk to finish rebuilding. So best if you could do this during off-peak or non-production hours.

-Smita

John,

Both are valid partition schemes for WAAS.  The 2nd WAE was running 4.0.X code at some point (or is currently running 4.0.x).

There are no known issues with running either partitioning scheme.

However, you could restore the device to factory defaults to make it consistent if you are concerned (you will lose all of your cache/configurations if you do that).

Hi,

I know this is an old topic but I've come across some WAE-674's with the same (or similar) issue.

#show disk details

  disk01: Online               xxxxxxxx         286102 MB

Disk encryption feature is disabled.

Disk object cache extend is disabled.

The 3x affected WAE's are running 4.4.7 but was previously on 4.4.3. I need to upgrade to 5.2.1 for a project so want to get the estate upto scratch first.

What I'd like is a definitive answer on the best method of 'restoring' the disk partitions to be able to see the /obj1 and /dre1 partitions etc.

Would simply using the 'disk delete-data-partition' and rebooting solve this? or do I need to restore to factory-default as Michael suggested. This would involve a site visit.

Also is it possible to recreate the raid-array remotely? I believed so, but I had to shutdown the logical disk first and reload. The device came up on Solarwinds (ping/snmp) but not on CM nor could I SSH to it.

Andy
