How do I change the ethernet speed config on an ACE XML gateway?

When I initially configured networking for my ACE XML gateway I set the eth2 interface to AUTO. Now I want to go back and change it to 100 FULL but when I go back through the Network Configuration menu it no longer presents me with the screen that allows me to set the ethernet speed (which should appear after I set the subnet mask).

So now how do I modify my ethernet speed to 100 FULL? There's no other options to set it in the configuration manager.

I'm running gateway version 5.1-908 / kernal 2.4.2147 ELsmp.

Hi Leonard,

You should be able to change it by accessing your AXG through SSH then by choosing "Network Configuration > Interface EthX" from the blue menu.

After a couple of other parameters, you should be asked for the speed of the interfaces as you can see from the screenshot I took in my lab:

Thanks for the post. Unfortunately, since I already set the network configuration to AUTO the first time, when I repeat the steps again the dialog does not present me with the option to set the speed and duplex. Instead it bypasses the speed and duplex screens and goes from the netmask screen directly to the static routes screen.

Perhaps the behavior is different because I am running ACE XML Gateways software version 5.1 and you are on 6.1. Just my speculation.

I have managed to get around the issue by adding

ETHTOOL_OPTS="speed 100 duplex full autoneg off"

into the ifcfg-ethx file located in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, and rebooting the gateway (or restarting the network service). I could change the ethernet settings dynamically with ethtool but that method is not permanent (but a good way to test, though).

I would gladly welcome any other suggestions. Thanks again.

Hi Leonard,

I tested again by setting the speed of one of my AXG interface to auto and I'm still getting the speed option choice when I edit the network config afterwards.

I guess it must then be something which has been fixed between 5.1 you are running and 6.1 but unfortunately, I don't have a 5.1 box anymore so I cannot confirm it.
