All,
When trying to view the system image file on a WAAS unit by entering the command "show flash" or "dir" I see a listing of files but none of them appear to be the system image. My goal is to see the actual system image file name in full to determine if it has "accelerator" or "universal" as part of the file name, ie. similar to a router or a switch. Is this possible with a WAAS unit?
albwaas01#sh flash

Hi Adil,
You can see the type in show version and show running configuration.

Cisco Wide Area Application Services (universal-k9) Software Release 5.1.1c (build b3 May 9 2013)

And

! waas-universal-k9 version 5.1.1c (build b3 May 9 2013)
!
device mode application-accelerator

By the way universal image works on all while if you are running accelerator you cannot make that WAE CM while WAE universal can be made CM as well as accelerator.

Hi Adil,
No benefits as such for installing accelerator only. With universal you can always make a WAE as CM when needed. Below is from guide:
Two different WAAS software images are available. One provides only accelerator and AppNav Controller (ANC) functionality, while the other provides all (universal) functionality, as shown in Table 2.
Additionally, a separate set of No Payload Encryption (NPE) images are provided that have the disk encryption feature disabled. These images are suitable for use in countries where disk encryption is not permitted. Be sure to use the standard or NPE software images as required. You can recognize the NPE images by the "-npe" designation in the image filenames.

Kanwal

Fnu,
If the universal can run both Central Manager and Accelerator functions, why would anyone install the "accelerator" image? Are there any benefits for opting to install the "accelerator image" if one does not need to run CM functions on a WAE device?
