Working with Device Locations

Hi All,

I just swapped in a new WAAS appliance (WAVE-694-K-9) in place as part of an upgrade to swap out an older appliance.  I performed a replacement procedure as outlined in a Cisco doc.  The replacement and registering the new appliance to the Central Manager seemed to go as planned as the new appliance has successfully registered and assumed the identity of the old device.  The new device is also showing 'online' in Central Manager.  I also made sure that the "ip wccp redirect 61/62" commands are back on the router interfaces where I want the redirect to happen.  I am concerned that redirection is not happening and I can't figure out why.  When I do the command, "show ip wccp" command on the router I am not seeing the packet count incrementing on the router and other commands run on the waas is not showing any sessions.

Can someone advise what to check to get redirection to start happening on the new waas device?

Adil

Hi Adil,

It seems you need to use "enable" under config-wccp-service to activate the WCCP service on WAE which seems to be not active. Please try and let me know.

Hi Adil,

Here's the link for basic troubleshooting.

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_WAAS_Troubleshooting_Guide_for_Release_4.1.3_and_Later_--_Troubleshooting_WCCP

i would see if router can see wae and vice-versa and if they do we need to see if redirect wccp commands on router are configured properly along with redirect ACL.

Regards,

Kanwal

I ran the following troubleshooting command and the output concerns me: Services Enabled on this WAE - NONE-

Is this normal?  If not, how do I resolve?

cdrwaas01#show wccp status

WCCP Interception :

Configured State :  Enabled

Services Enabled on this WAE:

        -NONE-

Hi Adil,

You should have configuration for services like wccp tcp promiscous 61/62 etc enabled on WAE.

Regards,

Kanwal

I do have this command configured in WAE.  See below command copied from WAE (ip address removed for privacy):

wccp router-list 1

wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62

router-list-num 1

exit

Please see further output from the router below.  Another concerning indication is that the Service Identifier is showing '0' clients (meaning it recognize the WAE).  Connectivity has been verified.  WAE and router can ping each other.

Hi  Adil,

The router doesn't seem to recognize WAE. Can you send me the output of these commands from WAE:

show wccp status

show wccp router

show alarms

Also, send me the wccp configuration done on WAE. Are you able to ping router from wae?

Regards,

Kanwal

Yes, I found out from TAC the same, which is  the enable command is missing.  Now it is added and WCCP redirection is working.  Thank you for your help!
