Jabber IM Only

I have a client with an Asterisk solution, but he needs a IM solution too.

Is possible that Jabber can provide IM only without have an Callmanager?

I don't know why you would use Cisco Jabber if you are not using Callmanager and Unified Presence.  Asterisk 11 itself supports IM, but I don't know any details or what clients are typically used.
