Cisco Business Dashboard - Design Question

Hi all,

I'm considering building a LAN (22 switches in total) with SG350 switches!

I find the Business Dashboard interesting for management and monitoring, but I`ve a few questions about the design
As I understand it, there are 3 basic options (details in the appendix) - please let me know if my understanding is correct at all- thank you!

1-) Direct management:
only possible on some models and only ONE switch can be integrated directly in the business dashboard (call home agent)! Does the business dashboard have to be in the same LAN/IP subnet area as the switch, or can there also be a WAN in between?

2-) Embedded Probe:
each SG250 or SG350 can be activated for this and manage up to a maximum of 15 switches - correct? If there are more than 15 switches in a network, could I configure 2 switches each as a probe and each manages a number of switches e.g. Switch1 probe = 10 switches and Switch2 probe = 10 switches?

3-) Dedicated Probe on a Server VM:
When should this form be used? and is there an advantage compared to the "Embedded Probe"?

I thank you all in advance for any help!

Hi,

Direct management:
Yes, it also can work between a WAN, but SG350 don't support it.

Embedded Probe and VM Probe:
Embedded probe on SG350 can support 15 devices, if device number is over 20, the probe will shut down automatically. In your case, you have to put 22 switches into 2 subnet and enable a probe on each subnet. VM probe can support 50+ devices and have better performance.
