Hello Cisco Community Members!

We're thrilled to announce some exciting updates to our badge system and notification process, designed to enhance your experience and streamline your interactions within the community. Based on valuable feedback from our users, including our VIP members, we have made some significant changes. Here's what's new:

Streamlined Badge System

Out with the Old, In with the New!
We're retiring the "Newbie" badge to make way for the new "First Discussion" badge. This new badge will automatically be awarded to any user who creates their first discussion or forum thread. It's a great way to recognize and celebrate the start of your journey in contributing to our community.

  • What You Need to Know:
    • The "First Discussion" badge will only appear when you create a new discussion thread.

    • It will not appear on other content types or if your first post is a reply.
    • The badge will disappear once you create your second discussion thread, marking your progression in the community.

Enhanced Notification System

To prevent an overload of emails and ensure a smoother notification process, we've implemented the following changes:

  • Real-Time Badge Notifications: Instead of receiving multiple emails for each badge earned, you'll now receive real-time pop-up notifications directly on your user profile. This feature allows you to stay updated without cluttering your inbox.
  • Notification Management: We've switched off badge notifications at the Admin root level to reduce the number of emails you receive. This ensures that your focus remains on engaging with the community rather than managing emails.

Live Deployment: The new badge system and notification process are being added to the production environment and will be live soon.

We are committed to improving your experience in the Cisco Community and believe these changes will enhance your engagement and recognition. As always, your feedback is invaluable, and we encourage you to share your thoughts on these updates.

Thank you for being a part of the Cisco Community. We look forward to seeing you start new discussions and contribute to the vibrant conversations happening every day!

Best regards,
The Cisco Community Team
