Add new redundancy Switch in DNA Center

Hi everyone,

I have a DNA Center to run SD-Campus systems, currently the DNA Center is running with a fabric and with a hierarchy of fusion router> Border router> Intermediary Switch> edge switch. I have plans to add an intermediary as redundancy. Currently all my devices are registered on the DNA Center with LAN Automation, do I have to do LAN Automation again (configuration from scratch) on my intermediary and edge (as a child from intermediary) when adding a new intermediary for redundancy?

Thanks,

You can do both depends what you looking to, if you have automated setup then you can claim the device and add the Template.

or configured the device and manually discover the device with IP and set the role as required FIS(Fabric Intermediate Switch)  and FES (Fabric adge switch)

Hello @dimdim12

The answer is yes. Lan automaction is a workflow, so, every time you need to connect a new device to a seed device, you need to run the lan automation.

You can run the Lan automation from the device closer to the new device. If you intent to connect this device to your "intermediaty" device then use this device as seed and connect to one interface of this device what cisco call Plug and Play agent, in other words, the new device.

During the process of preparation for Lan automation the primary seed (what you are calling intermediary) will receive the preparation to be the start point for lan automation which include the configuration of Loopback0, Is-Is and multicast(if you choose multicast also). It will also receive a temporary DHCP server and the vlan1 configuration with IP address to be the gateway.

Once that happen the seed device(intermediaty)  goes to a provision state and then it is ready to discovery your new switch.
