Cant find my router in lan.

Hi,

I did buy a Catalyst 1200 router and when i direct connect it via lan cable to my computer. I cant connect to it via the web interface or ping it in cmd.

But, if i deactivate the default DHCP settings in Windows 11 and use the ip adress 192.168.1.3 for my computer.

Then, i can ping and connect to the router.

After i did that, i could log in and configure it, then i changed the windows settings back to dhcp and now i can normally connect to the internet and everything is working(except).

Again, i cant find the router in lan, cant log in, cant ping it.

I used Nmap to scan the whole ip range of 192.168.0.0 / 192.168.1.0 but there is no router reacting to my scannings.

So, i wonder what i am doing wrong...

gDay @oehmig-andreas It sounds like ur PC and router aren’t on the same subnet once u switch back to DHCP. Cause when u set ur PC to 192.168.1.3, it matched the router’s network (likely 192.168.1.1) so it worked......

Which means that after enabling DHCP, ur PC probably gets an IP from another range. So check ur IP if it’s not in 192.168.1.... reconnect manually, log into the router, and confirm its LAN IP and DHCP settings. Once both are on the same subnet, you’ll be able to ping and access it normally.

hope it helps and PEACE!

Hey, thanks for the help.
i changed the Router up manually to 192.168.0.2.

and changed the Windows dhcp Setting back to automatic.
Then, windows assigned 192.168.56.1 to the computer. Kind of strange, but, I can log into the router. So everything is fine.

The device comes with the switch that uses the factory default IP address of 192.168.1.254

That is the reason why, when you configure the device with 1.3, you can access the device.
