DNA Center - 9200 as EDGE switches and 3560CX as EXTENDED NODES

Good day everyone, 

Do you know if the having the Catalyst 9200 switches as EDGE switches and 3560CX as EXTENDED NODES will work? 

We tried to connect them but they don't get set up over PnP protocol. Did anyone else encounter the same issues? Tried to find documentation on cisco.com or cisco live session but without luck.

Hi, 

Unfortunately, the C9200 and C9200L do not support extended nodes functionality. 

You need to use at least C9300/9300L to have it up and running.

Are there any plans to add Extended Node support for C9200 switches?

I try to understand the reason, why this should not be supported on C9200 series switches.

Is this a hardware or a software limitation?

Hi,

I just tested this in our lab environment (DNAC 2.2.3.3 and IOS-XE 17.3.4 on the Edge Nodes and IOS 15.2(7)E1a on the Extended Node).

Actually, it is technically working fine with C9200 as well as C9200L acting as Edge Node and C3560CX acting as Extended Node.

According to the recent DNAC User Guide, this is still not supported yet. Are the information from this User Guide not up to date or is this still not officially approved by the the BU / TAC?

Once you have the right hardware keep an eye on dhcp option 43 for PnP:
Cisco Plug n Play Notes:

Option 43 on DHCP server must be enabled:
5A1N - specifies plug and play
B2 - ipv4 type
IX.X.X.X - connect to dnac ip
J443 - port # to use

Additionally, the default pnp startup vlan is 1. If you wish to utilize a different vlan as the startup pnp vlan, you can do so by configuring the following on the upstream switch:

-- pnp startup vlan <vlanNumber>
