DNAC APIs - lldp and fdb information

1. lldp api doesn't appear to report  lldp neighbors if that neighbor is not managed by DNAC. Is that true ?  Has anyone faced same issue ?

2. Is there an API in DNA, that can give the Fdb entries for switch devices managed in DNAC?

Thanks in Advance,

Senthil

Hello @SenthilS

Here are the answers to your questions regarding Cisco DNAC APIs and their behaviour:

1. lldp api doesn't appear to report  lldp neighbors if that neighbor is not managed by DNAC. Is that true ?  Has anyone faced same issue ?

Q. 1) Does the LLDP API report LLDP neighbors if the neighbor is not managed by DNAC?

  1. Yes, this is true. The LLDP API in Cisco DNA Center typically reports LLDP neighbor information for devices that are managed by DNAC. If a neighbor device is not managed by DNAC (i.e., it is not discovered or added to DNAC), the LLDP neighbor information for that device may not be included in the API response. DNAC focuses on providing detailed insights and data for devices that are part of its managed inventory.

2. Is there an API in DNA, that can give the Fdb entries for switch devices managed in DNAC?

Q. 2) Is there an API in DNAC that can provide the FDB (Forwarding Database) entries for switch devices managed in DNAC?

  1. As of now, Cisco DNA Center does not provide a direct API to retrieve FDB (MAC address table) entries for switches. DNAC focuses on higher-level network management and automation tasks, and it does not expose low-level switch-specific details like FDB entries through its APIs.
  2. If you need FDB information, you would typically need to query the switch directly using SNMP, CLI, or NETCONF/RESTCONF, depending on the capabilities of the switch.

Hope This Helps!!!

1. Which API endpoint are you referring to here?

2. I unfortunately don't think so. You can probably use the command runner to extract this data and parse it with TextFSM or similar.
