Hi,
For testing purpose I previously added an AP ("AP-2" to Catalyst Center/DNAC, performed some actions on it (Site Assignment, Provisioning, etc.).
I then removed the AP-2 from the Inventory and performed a factory reset.
When the AP-2 re-joins the WLC and therefore is added to DNAC Inventory, the AP-2 is directly assigned to the Site it was originally assigned to. No action coming from me.
Now because I want to use the "AP Refresh" workflow to refresh a Legacy AP-1 by this AP-2, DNAC gives an error saying that AP-2 is already assigned to a site. I know from documentation that AP-2 should not be assigned to any site to be eligible in this workflow.
My question is: how to make DNAC forgetting everything it knows about this AP-2? So when the AP-2 re-appears in the Inventory, it doesn't have any site assigned.
Regards,
Sylvain.

Found the answer.
After deleting the AP from the Inventory, the AP is still referenced as "Planned APs" in the Design > Network Hierarchy.
The AP should be deleted from here as well.
Now when you re-use the AP and is back into the DNAC inventory, the site assigned to the AP is blank as expected.
That is something that should be improved, or at least documented somewhere.

Anyone?

Maybe try removing from Inventory and starting the onboarding process again - is that helpful?

As stated in my post, I already tried that. No luck.

After removing did you confirm that was not in inventory or used ?

Yes I confirm.

When you removed the device from inventory, does DNAC gave you the option of device configuration clean up?

Yes but I didn't check the option. I will give it a try.

Have you managed to resolve the issue?
I'm experiencing the same problem — we have removed the AP from the inventory, but when searching through Global Search, it still shows up. However, when filtering in the inventory view, nothing is found.
