I have 3 switches in stack (9300)in ring .

stack cable between 1/1 and 3/2 look like disconnected. Can I connect stack cable without make any of the switch down ? I don't have downtime for this task, will it cause stack reload?

Switch 1 - master

Switch 2 -standby

Switch 3-member

@Shadow_200

"An active switch connected to a fully operational stack becomes a stack member. It receives the running
configuration from the stack master. When you disconnect a stack member, the switch numbers and port
numbers of the remaining stack members do not change, and the switches do not reload"

However, I would not take the risk. I would go for it off business hours and with a task with possibly downtime

I am not disconnecting stack member. I just want to reconnect the stack cable between 1/1---3/2.

In current case stack connection mentioned below.

1/2 -- 2/1

2/2 -- 3/1

Yeah, I got what you need to do but the behavior expected should be the same. When you close the ring the switch will recognise a configuration change on the network and this can cause the switch to relload.

From the 1/2 perspective it sees on only the 2/1 and after the change it will see the 3/1 which is the same as add a new switch.

According to Catalyst 9300 Stackwise System Architecture White Paper, the recommendation is adding/removing a switch stack member should be done with it powered off.

Thanks Joseph for your valuable reply. But I am not going to add or remove any stack switch member ,I am just reconnecting the redundant stack cable. Will it impact the production?

"Will it impact the production?"

It may.

". . . I am not going to add or remove any stack switch member ,I am just reconnecting the redundant stack cable."

I understood that.  The point is, when switches are to be connected or disconnected, the recommendation is, one of them should be powered off.

My understanding is, most, if not all, Cisco Stackwise cables are not designed to be hot pluggable "safe", which isn't the same as saying you cannot do it and possibly might not cause any issues.
