which one is recommended for setting up and managing C9800 wireless networks in DNA-Center?
via network hierarchy / network settings / network profiles and assignment to sites, provisioning changes made
or via templating? it's a question of scalability of 50+ wlan controllers environment and managing the network and applying changes

Assign to site & provisioning will result in the same as doing it via templates as it requires you to provision the WLC in order to apply the template so configurations from DNAC design -> Network Settings would be pushed to the 9800 anyways. Use the DNA Center Design & device provisioning workflow to get your configuration as close to what you are aiming for as possible then you can use a Day-N template alongside the device provisioning workflow to push the remaining configurations you may need to configure on the 9800. You could also automate this process a bit further by onboarding the 9800s to Cisco DNA Center using PNP. In the next major DNA Center release, you will be able to push Day-0 onboarding templates to the 9800 during the pnp workflow.

Please also feel free to reach out to your Cisco account team to get you in contact with a CX representative to possibly attend an accelerator session which is a technical session with a customer success specialist to cover these different workflows more in-depth and which workflow would best fit your deployment/environment.

thank you for your reply.
as far as i can see in global network settings (wireless) the ssids are defined global, they cannot be changed in the sub-areas/sites, just inherited.
Also an SSID can only be configured once (unique SSID name), same name with different SSID settings is not possible, is that correct?
what if i want to use Guest SSID with same name, but different Anchor Controller per region/site?
