Periodic webex extensions instead of mp4s.

Our users record their WebEx sessions to their OneDrive using the WebEx application Version: 43.8.0.26955.  Most of the time the media is fully encoded to mp4 after the session is ended, however periodically we see a titled .WebEx extension as well as an identically titled mp4 that is 0 KB in size.  What causes this issue?

  • Please check If the application is properly installed.
  • Check to make sure that the application is properly configured.
    You can do this by opening the WebEx application and going to the "Settings" menu. In the "Settings" menu, make sure that the "Encode media to MP4" option is enabled. If its not enabled, you should enable it. If the "Encode media to MP4" option is already enabled then check to make sure that you have the necessary permissions to encode the media to MP4. You can do this by contacting the WebEx administrator. If you don’t have the necessary permissions, you should contact the WebEx administrator to request the necessary permissions.
