How can we change the serial number on a Cat9000v so we can import multiple into Catalyst Center? Is this possible yet in 2.7?

Please help.

Hello @dodgerfan78 ,

it seems that you are not the only one facing this issue - I also stumbled upon it and after a bit of research I found this link:

https://community.cisco.com/t5/cisco-modeling-labs-discussions/virtual-cat-9k-with-cml-dnac/td-p/4920879/page/2

The workaround stated in the community thread is to change the <prod_serial_number> property to be the desired serial number in the CONFIG/vswitch.xml before powering up the vm.

The serial is randomised upon first boot in the image version shipped with 2.8. I would suggest upgrading CML or importing the new refplat instead of trying to make it work on 2.7 - I spent quite a lot of time trying to make it work on 2.7 with very little success.

Agreed with this post.

I tried numerous times with older versions of the Catalyst 9000v image to change the serial number with no success. I would properly wipe, change the serial number in the xml file and nothing would happen.  I finally downloaded the latest image that ships with CML 2.9 and ultimately upon changing the serial number in the xml file it was properly reflected in the show version output. I needed this because NDFC will not add Catalyst switches to a Campus VXLAN fabric without a unique serial number per switch.
