Virtualized Intel VT-x/EPT is not supported on this platform

Good morning,

I bought CML Personal about 2 weeks ago and have still be having issues with the installation. The error message i keep recieving in VMware Workstation Pro. Im ready to get my studies going and this has been such a hurdle!

Ive tried several things, hyper-v disabled, Bios, making sure all Virtualized support was on. I went into the file itself and did a "vhv.enable = "True" and changed it to false, which did work for me to actually get the Model on, but running a lab would fail instantly, put this back to true. then that error appeared once more.

ANY tips would be greatly appreciated. This has been kicking my butt for 2 weeks.

Ives tried on 2 seperate laptops, Microsoft surface laptop 4, and a Dell Pro Max 16.

You can see i got it to work at some point, but had system issues on the program website.

thanks!

Disclaimers: I am long in CSCO. Bad answers are my own fault as they are not AI generated.

So Ive actually been trying to follow those steps, however Memory Integrity is grayed out as ON, trying to turn it off now

HI @mattrendall23 , If you are using Windows Home Edition, please try the troubleshooting steps in FAQ, There is also a document attached with full instructions https://developer.cisco.com/docs/modeling-labs/faq/#troubleshooting

12. Why does VMware Player or Workstation report an error about "Intel VT-x" or "nested virtualization" when I power on the CML VM?

If you are using Windows PRO or Enterprise, i would strongly recomment installing CML directly on Hyper-V Manager, instructions in this link.

Try GNS3, more stable, less issues.

I would try GNS3 but i already bought CML for $200

Just tried the Hyper-V route, having errors, will try to fool with it. I rather VMware Workstation only because thats what others used that use CML. I dont know at this point this is becoming annoying

Hello, I use both CML modeling labs 2.8.1  and GNS3 Version 2.2.54 . But I have a different setup. I use this hardware minisforum um790 pro  and installed proxmox virtual environment on the mini pc. From there you can install vm ware containers: how to setup cml on proxmox/  or cml on proxmox/

I think mini pc's are excellent for CML and GNS3 in combination with proxmox. Installation on laptops/notebook with VMware 17.5 is not something I would recommend. Hyper-V is worthless. Don't use it. The mini pc has 64 Gb DDR5 ram but 32 Gb should be sufficient for most labs.

GNS3 works also very well on proxmox and de herefore mentioned mini pc.  how to install gns3 on proxmox  or How to set up GNS3 server on Proxmox

I know that is not the answer to your question or problem but maybe it's a good idea to buy a refurbished of second hand minisforum pc like I did. Saves a lot of money and no longer annoyances about hardware that is not functioning.
