Hello,
I installed the "free version" of Cisco CML.
When I wanted to start a node within a lab, the following message is displayed:
Cisco-switch1: No compute host can start nodes, rejecting all node starts (cml-controller does not have base images.
I was under the assumption that the base images are part of the "free version;" apparently not.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Martin

The free CML version might not come with base images so you’ll need to grab them separately ( with a subscription) and add them in before starting nodes.

Hello @Netmart,
the IOL and IOL-L2 nodes are part of CML-Free beside an unmanaged switch and the external connector.
If none of these node types appear, then the refplat-ISO file was probably not connected when you started the VM for the first time.
It needs to be connected at power on during installation to copy the contents automatically.
You can do this manually by following the instructions of the Copy Refplat ISO to Disk section of the CML documentation.
Alternatively, you could also re-install CML and make sure that the refplat-ISO file is connected at power on.
This means that you must not power on the VM after deploying the OVA-file. You need to edit the settings to connect the refplat-ISO and select 'connect at power on'. Then start the VM and the contents will be copied as part of the installation.
HTH!
