C3850 IOS upgrade failure

CMack6

Level 1

I attempted to load a new IOS image on my C3850 but ran into an issue I have never seen before nor have I found any guidance online about it.  When I console into the device via Putty, I get no prompt only ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ lines when I hit ENTER.  I can't get out of it even after a hard reboot.  Any thoughts?

Thank you!!!

what was the IOS you were trying to load , did you capture the logs all before you loading the image ?

what LED you see from of the Device ?

May be try different baud rates as suggested.

Configure the baud rate and character format of the PC or terminal to match the console port default characteristics:

  • 9600 baud

  • 8 data bits

  • 1 stop bit

  • No parity

  • None (flow control)

Hello,

I was attempting to load cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.12.05b.SPA.bin.  I did not capture the logs prior to loading the image.  The LED on the device shows the SYST light blinking rapidly.

I have those parameters set in Putty when I get the above mentioned image.

I tried different BAUD rates, and 57600 worked.  Now I'm brought to the Switch: line.  So I guess I'll start troubleshooting that now!

May be try different baud rates as suggested.

yes, it might have been configured before like that you can check in the config, Glad all good, and you able to fix the issue.
