Cisco 9500 stackwise virtual IOS upgrade

Hi all,

I have a 9500 stacked switch which has 2 switches( switch1, switch2).

I'm not sure it's booted in install mode or bundle mode. when I enter sh ver, it says Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 17.06.03.

How can I check what boot mode it is and how can I upgrade this to the latest version?

Thanks for help me.

Show boot command show you what mode the switches booted.

Boot system flash:/IOSXE.bin (bundle mode)

Boot system flash:/packets.conf (Install mode mode)

You can also check

show version (show you end of  switch mode)

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Please refer to attached file.

Thanks Leo.

I just looked over the attachment, it says rename two conf files as package.conf and package.conf.bak. Should I follow the step? or I can skip it? Because I have seen some guide on the community and there're no the step like that.

And I think my 9500 is now running in bundle mode. But I want to convert it to install mode. All I have to do is changing BOOT variable as package.conf before perfoming upgrade?

That's because I developed the steps myself.

One-Hit-Wonder is not Cisco TAC supported but if each step is followed, including renaming the *.conf files to packages.conf, then the chance of success is really high.

No one has reported any failures.
