I am at a complete loss as a newbie 🤦
I bought the Cisco SG200-50port with PoE. I have reset the router and connected the switch to the computer but I can’t access the GUI as the error appears either timed out or no internet access. I just don’t know what I am doing wrong and google/YouTube just don’t seem to have the answers. Any help will be greatly appreciated

@jamiemckabab after reset switch automatically use default IP. check below guide for initial setup.

I have done all that but it still isn’t allowing me to get too the GUI 🥲 it’s proven to be quiet difficult. It shows when I do an IPCONFIG/ALL but if I attempt to ping etc it does respond 🤦

You should have this basic config in order to access the device. Of course the IP address showing here are just examples

I can’t get that far with it…. I plug it in and then nothing the Ethernet port doesn’t notice it’s an internet connection for most of the time. So I can’t even connect to the switch properly. I have reset it multiple times, removed the power plug aswell multiple times for what I hoped would be a way to fix any issues with reset. The power led is continually flashing and if I plug an Ethernet into the act/link it flickers ie saying that there’s activity happening

If you add an IP address on your PC on the network 192.168.1.0/24 , for example, 192.168.1.1, you plug a cable from your PC to the switch port and open a web browser and issued: http://192.168.1.254
And you get nothing, you may have a faulty switch in your hands.

Dont feel sorry @jamiemckabab it is fine not to know this if you dont need to.
Add a IP Address on the computer is pretty simple. I will give you a step by step considering Windows but if you use a different Operating system, we can find also.

I share a video but it upload another thing. Just make sure you are administrator of the PC, you need to be.

Followed both links ( I’m currently using windows 11 ) I added the subnet mask etc and it’s just not allowing me to access the switch at all. I’m still not getting an internet connection either whilst plugged into the switch? My brain is frazzled with it 🤦

I am the administrator on the PC I downloaded Advanced IP Scanner which it shows the device but when I ping it it stays destination host unreachable?

Som you managed to add IP add on the PC?
What you can do is reset the switch.
The switch might also have a reset button. The switch can be reset by
inserting a pin or paper clip into the reset opening.
If the switch have a different IP than 192.168.1.254, by reseting it, the IP address must return to 192.168.1.254

That’s the IP address I attempted too add, I entered the submask etc and used google as a back up DNS ( 8.8.8.8 ) but again I have been unable too save the IP address ( using IP4v ) again I would like to thank you for your time and input on this confusing matter 🤦

If you have a wifi router over there, you might be able to connect the PC to the router interface and the switch to the router interface and use the DHCP provided by the router. Then, using you Scanner and find the IP the switch got.
