Hi All,

How to activate the Change Password menu on Cisco Jabber Windows 10.5.2?

or we can not change the password?

If any one know, please kindly to tell me how.

We are using LDAP for the users database, CUCM 9.1.2, and the IM and Presence 9.1.1.

Thank you..

Regards,

Rois

Hi

You would use the 'FORGOT_PASSWORD_URL' to set what the menu item links to.

That would need to link to a page that allows the user to resolve password issues on whatever system authenticates your users - i.e. you need to provide that web page.

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for your fast reply.

From your link, is it mean that i can not change the password without access to LDAP server right?

And I can not activate the Change Password menu right?

Rois

Yes - you could link the page to your helpdesk web page for example.

No part of CUCM/CUPS/Jabber has admin access to LDAP to allow changing passwords, and there is no built-in way to do it. It just allows you to link to a system that does allow it.

Hi Aaron,

Actually change password is very very important for us.

But the Cisco Jabber can not do it. It can do with 3rd party application like helpdesk web page.

It's very strange for us why the Change password menu there without function. :D

Thank you, Aaron, for your reply.

Hi

It's sort of a question of how many types of back end system they could code for, as well as around things like:

- What do users normally do if they can't log in?  You probably have procedures already..

- How did they log in to the PC (if Windows) if they don't know the password..?

- etc.

It's there for flexibility, though it does seem like a bit of a cop out.

Change password is only available if you're using WebEx, if you're using on-prem, assuming your computers are part of the domain, you need to use the old method of CTRL+ALT+DEL and change password, or implement any other local method of your choice to change it.

Hi Rois,

how are you ? seems great now

regarding your problem and this is common issue for cisco jabber, but in our company we have a litle solution for it, our IT team deploy additional services in company web which restricted only for certain users has mobile jabber.

so whenever jabber users wants to change their own password they just to go to company website and go to jabber services page (after login use company account) then they just change their password by them self (see pic in attachment)

actually this is just additional services to make easy for users, this is more comfortable for users than using prime collaboration / Cisco selfcare portal.

this one of possibility for solving this issue because to make password management MENU is strickly only cisco can make it (because it was software base),

but currently Cisco seems will not add this feature, because they want users to use webex.
