Cisco Jabber 12.7 Red Dot While On A Call

I have a environment that was recently updated to CUCM 12.5 and Jabber to 12.7. We have noticed that some users are reporting a red dot while on a call. We have narrowed this down to a Quality Management situation. When a user is assigned a license in QM, the red dot shows up whether they are being monitored or not. Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Not exactly, in fact the documentation doesn't restrict this feature to a softphone mode only. So can happen either with Cisco Jabber softphone mode and IM-Softphone mode.

Hi Joe!

That red dot while on a call is part of the Ad-hoc call recording feature for Cisco Jabber, which started on Cisco Jabber 12.7.

There are two types of Recording: Silent and On-Demand, more information can be found here: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/12_7/cjab_b_feature-configuration-for-jabber-127/cjab_b_feature-configuration-for-jabber-127_chapter_0100.html?bookSearch=true#reference_6593FBAC29C21F27B64439EFB7614297

If you want to stop the recording, it is possible to just click on the red dot to stop it.

Hi Miguel,

Is there any way to disable this via the jabber-config.xml?

Hi Joe,

Unfortunately, there is no way to disable it from the jabber-config file, however, from the CUCM it can be disabled.

Try going to the CSF device > built in bridge dropdown > select disable.

Got it. So based on that I am going to assume this only happens when the users are softphone mode only?
