Cisco Jabber for Mac log files slow to update

In my previous Cisco Jabber for Mac client I tailed the log files to note when my status would change and send it to other scripts.

In my new Cisco Jabber for Mac client (Version 11.7.0 (241535)), the log files don't update for 20 minutes or so and then they update in a burst. Is there a setting to restore the previous behaviour of constantly writing the log file?

Update: More digging has shown this is an OS X Sierra thing, where log files are written to memory and then written to disk. There is a "log" function that lets you stream a log file, but I'm not seeing anything in the log file that shows when your presence status changes. Am I missing something?
