No haven't heard of that on the roadmap, files button in the room leaves much to be desired and I already passed on feedback request that we need files to be shown in that view since the inception of the room and also some kind of search to be able to filter quickly in the room. More folks who submit that better chance of being implemented
To your point yes you can "integrate" content management providers. Some already exists on spark depot like box or drop box but out of the box native integration is more messages when someone uploads/deletes/adds a comment etc. You can enhance that with your own bot that can push files to box as an example when a file is uploaded to your spark room. The idea there is Spark is best suited for the "collaboration layer" while the content management systems do what they do best.
