Editing Mail Server Details on CWMS

Farhad Ashna

Hi All,

I am running CWMS version 2.5.1.6139.B-AE. I need to update the Mail Server as our current one is being decommissioned.

Do I need to put the webex server into maintenance mode to edit it?

Would updating the Mail Server details cause any access issues back into the webex page?

Thank You

Hi Farhad,

If you plan to change Mail Server settings, per documentation, it shouldn't be required to put the system into Maintenance Mode.

Making the change to a valid SMTP server shouldn't impact access to WebEx Site URL.

However, if new SMTP server isn't configured properly, you may experience issues with e-mail notification delivery after switching, but that is not related to anything on CWMS side but rather to SMTP server configuration.

Kind regards,

Hi Dejan,

Thanks for the information provided.

Just a quick question the cisco link provided mentions to turn on maintenance mode in step 3. However in Notes it mentioned "

Turning on Maintenance Mode is not required to change these properties

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Therefore I am not too sure if we should do it or not.

Thank you for your support so far.

Farhad

Hi Farhad,

It is not necessary to turn Maintenance Mode on. As long as your new SMTP server is configured properly, you can just go and make the changes on CWMS to point to new SMTP server, and the moment you save the changes, the system will start using the new SMTP server.

Hi Dejan,

Thank for the update above.

We are putting the system in maintenance mode and shutting it off due to an issue with the blade running on Admin and Media servers.

Therefore do you recommend we do it once we power the VM's on again then they will boot in maintenance mode.

Do you recommend we do it while in maintenance mode or take them out of maintenance and then update?

Thanks,

Farhad

Hi Farhad,

Since you are already putting the system into Maintenance, you can make the changes while in Maintenance Mode.
