Enforce Away status in Jabber

Is there a way to "enforce" the "Away" timeout in Jabber or at least change it back to 20 minute default every time it launches? Our CEO would like us to set this the same for all users. We managed to do this for Lotus Sametime in a round about way but it would be good to know if this is possible when we start migrating people over to Jabber.

You can configure the timer in the .xml

HTH

java

if this helps, please rate

I believe the jabber-config.xml element <Set_Status_Inactive_Timeout> only sets the default for first time launch. To my knowledge it doesn’t force/lockout that setting.

I’m not aware of a supported way to force this. I have seen some customers mess with the local XML file in AppData but, to my knowledge, touching that file isn’t TAC supported; an update may break it without warning.

Thank you both for the responses. I see we already have the status timeout set to 20 minutes in the Jabber XML file. I've changed mine to 15 minutes as a test and relaunched the software, it seems to retain the custom setting (which I guess is expected behaviour)

Does the XML file only ever get downloaded when the software is initially configured/setup and will not apply again unless the main XML file is updated on the TFTP server?

Hi Barkerr01,

Does the XML file only ever get downloaded when the software is initially configured/setup and will not apply again unless the main XML file is updated on the TFTP server?

NO, XML file is downloaded when the jabber client is reset or jabber cache is removed.
