How to setup Jabber with only a VCS Controller

I'm a noob to UCOM, but from what I've read Cisco requires the use of a VCS Controller and a separate VCS Expressway in order to configure mobile and remote access. Does any know if it's possible to just use a VCS Controller (X8.7) so that employees can participate remotely in Telepresence video calls (SX20) and Web Ex presentations? your advice is greatly appreciated.

No, if you want to have MRA, B2B, CMR, etc. you need VCS-C and VCS-E, or EXP-C and EXP-E

VCS would just give you local registration, and in order to have Jabber devices registered to CUCM to call devices registered to VCS, you'll need to configure a SIP trunk between the systems.
