Jabber IM for Android

Level 5

Hi,

Is there an IM (old Connect) client for Android? I see the Jabber (old Mobile) but not an IM client. The one for the IPhone is confusing as well as I deleted the iphone Jabber client thinking they were duplicates only to figure out I deleted the IM client and left the Mobile client on, I had to re-download the Jabber IM.

Anyway, can someone point me to a IM client for the Android.

Thanks,

Bob James

Any update on the status of the beta or potential availability date?

Hello All,

Registration for the Jabber IM for Android Beta is official opened!  To register,  go to www.cisco.com/go/cug log in, click on 'Join Now', and complete the Collaboration User group membership profile.  Once this is completed, go to the Private CUG space and register for the Beta.

Thanks!

Rena

Same goes for this entry.

Jeff,

I will forward your post to the Cisco person who manages GM. He will get in touch with you.

Hi Lisa,

I just saw this, so I immediately tried to register, but the registration is closed - is there any possibilities to join anyway?

We realy would like to try this, since we see a huge demand for this here in Denmark...

Kind regards

Lars

Hi Lars,

Cisco Jabber IM for Android became just available on Google Play.  Please try it and let us know how you like it.  Thank you so much for your continuous interest and support for Cisco Jabber.

Hello Rena, thank you. I'm looking forward when its available in CUG Beta. ;-)

J.

Not support for Windows Phone.... Well Microsoft Lync have a full support for all mobile devices, Why Cisco not jump for that? Windows phone is release for public in October 2010... I sorry but i don't understand.

Hi Wagner, at this time Cisco does not plan on supporting Windows phone.  Cisco is not tied to any particular operating system and we build according to market demand.  Windows mobile world wide  market share is not significant at this time compared to iPhone, Android, and Blackberry and those platforms are our priority.

While Lync provides basic presence and IM on  mobile devices, we feel Jabber provides a much more comprehensive collaboration experience in mobile scenarios ranging from presence/IM to voice, video, and web collaboration.
