Jabber IM only Mode: how to get IP address?

Hello,

we have a quick question: how can we get the IP address of a recent Cisco Jabber (11.x or 12.x) connected in IM only Mode to a recent CUCM IM&P cluster (11.x or 12.x), by the server tools (GUI, CLI, RTMT)?

In other words, we would like to get something similar to what we can get for an IP phone registered on the CUCM (under the "Device -> Phone" webpage), but related to the IM service of the Jabber.

Hello,

If the Jabber CSFs are in IM mode only, they will not register to the CUCM because the profiles wasn`t created. So you will not see any attempts of register and capture/collect their IPs from RTMT. What you can do is to extract a "Sign in Sign Out" report and then open the report and search for SystemInfo file, "IPv4 Address" line within the file.

Not a easy way to do it but its something.

Click on the gear icon(option)--> Help -->Report a Problem
In the first option select Sign In / Sign Out, put any name to the problem, put any description for problem details than insert your email that you would be receiving this report and click Send.

Your report should be in your mailbox, then follow my previous instructions.

Another way that comes to mind now is to, login to CLI on your CUPS/ IM&P server and do a packet capture on the server for the purpose to see incoming presence status from any Jabber device.

unfortunately, we need a solution at server side, because we do not know where a particular user is logged on a Jabber in IM only Mode; so, we cannot use the hint to generate the PRT from the Jabber.

Regarding the packet capture on the CUP/IM&P server, we have tried to sniff the XMPP traffic (port TCP 5222), but it is not readable... Is it binary and/or ciphered?

Other ideas?
