Jabber through VPN without Enhanced Plus

My organization wants to have remote users connected via VPN to use the desktop Jabber clients to make external phone calls.

No video, just audio calls.

Do we need to purchase Enhanced Plus licenses or can this be done with the Jabber license included with the system?

Review the link I provided, licenses allow for

a) specific model of devices per license type

b) a fixed number of devices per user per license type

The only one that would be able to answer your questions, is you, who has access to the licensing information of what is currently being used, model of devices, number of devices per user, etc.

You can user either VPN for some device models and devices running Jabber, or you can use MRA for devices and Jabber, the choice is up to you, if you don't have the equipment for VPN you can use MRA (Mobile Remote Access, you can find plenty of reference online).

I STRONGLY suggest you reach out to a reputable consultant or a local Cisco Partner WITH voice specializations for assistance with this, and for assistance with the MRA deployment if you have never configured it and wish to use it.

You need to start by mentioning what system you use, version, and what do you mean by "included licenses" (if you mean the Jabber for everyone licensing, that only covers IM, not device registration to CUCM)

Jabber uses, at minimum, an enhanced license if that's the only device the user will have, the more devices they have associated, then you can go to enhanced plus or CUWL

Thank you.  Sorry for the light information, I am on an information gathering project which will result in a review of the current

Cisco Business Edition 6000H or replacement with another system.  I am not an engineer.  I am trying to ascertain if the licenses attached will cover 1 desk phone and 1 license that will allow Jabber to make external calls from a desktop and/or mobile. If so, do these Jabber devices need to be connected to the same network? local or via VPN or can they be truly external, ie: live on a mobile phone.
