All,

I cannot find any documentation on how to configure a firewall to allow remote users of Jabber for Windows to connect back to our IM&P server without using AnyConnect.

I'd suggest you to look into Collaboration Edge, guess that would be perfect for you.

Jaime,

Yes, we are very aware of CE, but that is a month or two off.  Which is fine, we can wait, just need a firm yes or no for current technology to tell management to wait.

Jaime,

No, here is the deal.

Management comes to me today and says, we need Jabber deployed to outside staff without AnyConnect.

First, I need to know is it possible with just CUCM, IM&P & a firewall or not?

If yes, then what ports need to be opened on the firewall and are there any special configurations on IM&P or CUCM that need to be done?  Assume we are using Jabber within the network fine right now.

If no, then that is fine, as long as I get an official no from Cisco

It *might* work, but it has not been tested, and thus it's not supported by Cisco.

That's why we have currently AnyConnect for that.

The answer to this?? CE

There's more to it than what you currently have, what you're missing, you'll get on 10.X

See this design presentation:

https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-35216

You cannot share the above with the customer, but will give you enough info to provide them with an answer and what to expect for CE.
