Jabber upgrade from version 11 to version 12, history not retained

Hello community members,

We have a bunch of jabber clients requiring an upgrade from jabber version 11.7.1.46916 to 12.7.1 .  After installing version 12, all of the chat messages and the history previously stored in version 11 is lost.
Is there any way to upgrade version 11.7 jabber clients to version 12.7 without losing the chat history?

I could be wrong, so someone else may be able to correct me, but I don't believe you can save the chat history locally through an upgrade.  You would need to set up a compliance server through CIMP to archive messages in order to save your chat history.  By doing that, it wouldn't matter what version of Jabber you are using because the files would be saved to the server rather than the local machine.
