Persistent group chat in Jabber?

I'm a big fan of using persistent group chat, and it worked like a dream with CUPC. Is there any plan to bring this feature to Jabber? I've been keeping an eye on the release notes and haven't seen anything yet.

Persistent group chat feature will be part of next Jabber for Windows release (9.7), planned for next year.

As far as I've been able to find out, CUP 10 is "a must", but for CUCM, I don't have any info.
