Phone Selection - Based on Location

Hi there,

Is there any way of forcing Jabber to use either Desk phone / Soft phone based on their location?

E.g

A lot of our users use the desk phone control at the office, then they might go home and connect through VPN,

They will make a call before remembering to change to soft phone mode.

The desk phone at the office will be used..

Is there a way to do this cleanly? or do we need to block CTI control from the VPN subnet?

I assume it wouldn't be too hard to include this option in the location services..?

This is not possible at this time, we do not automaticallycapture or publish location based information from the mac address. Today the location information is manually created by the user

Why would it matter how you do location? Give the users the ability to map a default phone to each location the user adds. This will require them to do a one-time mapping every time they are at a new location, but for most people who spend most of their time in 2 locations (work and home) they would only have to do this twice to cover 99% of their time. Seems like an easy, client-side addition to the location feature.
