Experts,
We are in planning phase to determine which Contact Source we would choose for our new Jabber Deployment.
Presently, We have UK cluster successfully running with Jabber (CUCM , IM&P v8.6). The proposal is to build a new setup in India with CUCM, IM&P, UCxN in 10.5 version, along with AD-LDS.
The client will have Jabber for Windows, Mac , Webex SSO. They do not want Jabber on Mobile or IPad.
With 10.5, the recommended model is UDS (since it support all clients). Since we need the integration to European cluster (CUCM, IM&P peering) for user roaming and the other side being EDI/BDI model, please suggest which method can we suggest to the customer.
Is it necessary that if we suggest UDS for India, the other site must be using the same?. What happens when a UDS User from India roams to Europe with EDI/BDI
Please help!

first of all you'll need to implement ILS if you want to place calls between jabber clients on different servers
then you'll need to federate the presence servers for the correct presence status propagation
you should use EDI/BDI on both clusters. UDS is the way when you plan to plan to use MRA
hope this helps

ALL clients have support for BOTH directory options, but you're limited with UDS as there is no field mapping you can configure in UDS, and when you move to 11.x and try to use the new group feature on Jabber, with UDS, you need to know the exact name of the group, if using LDAP, you can search for the groups.
The default config for J4W, is to look for EDI, not UDS.
