The last few months have seen tremendous changes in the way we work, flexible working is here to stay. Enabling flexible workspaces involves proving a secure virtual workspace that can allow people to be productive, engaged and actively collaborate from home, when they are on the go and when they do get back into the office but also to seamlessly transition between these workspaces.

As we do slowly start getting knowledge workers back into our office and campus environments a key question is

Can collaboration technology help us to interact more safely in the office?

Organizations will look to implement wellness and impact minimization policies such as staggered office hours and days, separating teams so only half or a third of a team are in the office at any one time and putting maximums on the number of people in meeting rooms.

We have seen a phenomenal increase in video usage and people really embracing video to stay connected. With our teams separated, video will become crucial, and nearly all meetings will be blended meetings with in-office physical attendees and remote attendees.

This will see an increase in the need for video technology in all our meeting spaces, but the other consideration is.

How can they meet and interact in a safer way?

People will prefer to either to use their own devices, their laptop, mobile or tablet or other contactless interaction options.

The Webex devices cognitive capabilities will be able to provide contactless interactions but also physical distancing reminders and notifications, through the use of the intelligent proximity, people presence, people count and webex assistant technology.

Intelligent proximity pairing technology will instantly pair people’s devices as they walk into a room, they can then use their own device to control meetings and calls including moving a meeting or call from one device to another.

Webex Assistant can enable people to have contactless interaction using voice commands and natural language understanding to control the meetings and calls, including meeting controls, reserving and scheduling the rooms and proactive join will even prompt for them to join their meetings touch free.

Facial Detection and People Count till now used for workspace usage visibility will be able to provide notifications of how many people are in rooms and when room thresholds are exceeded.

We would love to hear your comments and feedback on these considerations. How you would use the collaboration technology cognitive capabilities and any integrations you would provide to allow people to feel more comfortable getting back into the office.
