Core Issue

The 7912 is supported in Cisco CallManager Express version 3.0 with the IP phone load CP79120101SCCP030404A.SBIN image.

Resolution

To upgrade the 7912g to the appropriate .sbin image, follow this procedure:

  1. Upgrade the 7912 to an interim .zup image. This image should be the latest zup firmware version, which is CP79120101SCCP030404A.zup.

Note: To obtain this firmware version, contact Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC).

    1. Use the Cisco CallManager Express router to upgrade the firmware the 7912g. In global configuration mode, define the Cisco CallManager Express router as a TFTP server by issuing this command:

      multi-2-5(config)#tftp-server flash:CP79120101SCCP030404A.zup

    2. In telephone-service configuration mode, issue this command:

      multi-2-5(config)#telephony-service
      multi-2-5(config-telephony)#load 7912 CP79120101SCCP030404A.zup

    3. Reset the phone using **#**

    4. Issue the debug tftp events command to check that the upgrade occurred correctly. The command output should look like this:
      *Mar 10 01:11:12.205: %IPPHONE-6-UNREGISTER_NORMAL: ephone-4:SEP000C30527F23 IP:

Once the download is done, check your phone to see if it is running with this firmware. If not, do not proceed.

       5.   Upgrade the 7912g IP phone to the .sbin image which is required for support by Cisco CallManager.

  1. Remove the old load out of the telephony-service with this command:

    multi-2-5(config)#telephony-service
    multi-2-5(config-telephony)#no load 7912 CP79120101SCCP030404A.zup

  2. Replace this image name with a new load as shown:

    multi-2-5(config)#telephony-service
    multi-2-5(config-telephony)#load 7912 CP7912010200SCCP031023A.sbin

  3. Point the TFTP server to this firmware with this command:

    multi-2-5(config)#tftp-server flash:CP7912010200SCCP031023A.sbin

  4. Reset the phone again using **#**

  5. The debug tftp events should be similar to this:

    *Mar 10 01:30:36.985: %IPPHONE-6-UNREGISTER_NORMAL: ephone-4:SEP000C30527F23 IP:
