Are there any published specifications for the mic that comes with the C20 (TTC5-06)? And where can I find them?

Hi Robert,

these are the  C20 mic specifications:

  • Intuitive mute function directly on microphone with status indicator
  • Omni-directional, boundary microphone.
  • Excellent RF resistance and low self noise.
  • 3.5 mm four-pin mini-jack connector and 7.5 meter cable.
  • Robust and well suited for long-term meeting room use.
  • Designed by TANDBERG.
Technical details:
  • Directivity: Omni-directional (uniform in hemisphere above boundary)
  • Frequency response: 80-15 kHz | 80-3 kHz ± 3dB | 80-15 kHz ± 6dB
  • Sensitivity: -35dB ±3dB rel. 1V/Pa.
  • Max SPL: 110dB (3% THD @ 1kHz)
  • Self-noise: < 29 dBA , > 65 dB SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio)
  • Mic. output: Differential
  • Phantom power: 12 V
  • Output connector: 4 pin 3,5 mm mini-Jack (Shield: GND/ ring 2: muter detect/ ring1: signal - /Tip: signal +)

Please let me know if the information you are looking for is not listed above.

Cheers,

Thanks. Where did you find these? I was unable to find them anywhere on Tandberg's site or on the web.

Hi Robert,

actually, the only place you will find this information at the moment is in my posting here on this forum. We might consider making a document available on www.tandberg.com if there's demand for this.

Cheers,

Jonas

Any chance you will come out with a mic like the C20 that is compatible with the C60 and other systems?

Hi Tim,

The Performance Mic 20 is compatible with the C20 and the EX90.

The C40-C90 codecs have XLR microphones inputs, so you would need a TRRS to XLR adapter in order to connect the Performance Mic 20, however you would not be able to use the mute function.

I'm afraid I cannot comment on development plans on these forums, may I ask why you would need the Performance Mic 20 microphone instead of the AT841R microphone?

Cheers,

Jonas

NOTICE: This post was edited 22 Dec 2011 due to an error in the compatibility statement for the Performance Mic 20. The Performance Mic 20 is compatible with the C20 and the EX90. The Performance Mic 20 is not compatible with the  the EX60.

Can the AT841R from the older MXP series used with C20 and XLR-Adapter?  i know, the mute-button will not work then, but only want to know if its possible and the gmic gain input is ok..because i have read the Audio science cant be directly connected due c20 is missing mic pre amp.

We are looking for a microphone that has visual indicators letting participants know whether or not the micrphone is muted. Red-muted, green-unmuted and the C20 does exactly what were are looking for.

The phantom power on the C20 is 12 V and the Audio-Technica XLR microphones AT841R  and AT871R used on C40-C90 and MXP requires 48 V phantom power.

We can not guarantee proper operation if connecting the Peformance Mic 20 to an MXP or C40-C90 using the XLR inputs. In addition, we can not guarantee proper operation when connecting the Audio-Techinca microphones (AT841R  and AT871R) to the C20. Any such customized connection is done at your own risk and responsibility.

If you need a mute indicator you might consider using the GPIO on the C60/C90.

Jonas

i have a customer that needs to extend the cable length of their Precision Mic 20.  the contractor ran the conduit wrong and so we need an extra 120 m.  can i just buy a 3.5mm Male to Female cable to extend the distance?  i have searched high and low and have not found any technical limitations as to the supported distance of the mic cable.  any help is greatly appreciated.  thanks!

Hi Jarrod,

we have not performed any testing with cable extension for the Performance Mic 20 and cannot guarantee proper behavior for long distances. Such use is up to the end user to test. Remember that you would need a TRRS (four contacts) cable if you want to try this.

For anybody who is interested:

I had a bunch of conference room tables already wired with the older style Tandberg metal microphones (with the XLR ends).  We didn't want to have to re-wire our conference rooms to work with the new C20 Cisco units that have the 3.5 mm microphones.

Here is what I did:

-Left the existing older Tandberg Audio-technica microphones wired in the conference rooms

-Order a pigtail to convert the XLR (old mic) to the 3.5 mm 4-pole TRRS connection that the new C20's use for Mic input
  This pigtail works great: http://tinyurl.com/472oq8l

-Order a Phantom Power Injector to input power to the microphone (+48 v).  The old microphones do not get any power using the pigtail mentioned above, so you have to provide a source of power.  We ordered these, work great:  http://tinyurl.com/3b6q6vu

I think the older microphones work better than the new cheap looking ones from Cisco, however you do lose the ability to use the mute button on the mic.  Just use the mute button on the remote instead.

I tried using the adapter that Lucas references.
It did not work with dynamic XLR mics.  I took it apart
and found that wired incorrectly for this.  I built an
XLR-F to 3.5mm TRRS adapter as per the specs
that Jonas Tyssø gave, and that works.

I have tested the C20 mic with the EX60 and EX90.

Both does not work.

Care to explain?

Hi Henry,

The Performance Mic 20 is compatible with the C20 and the EX90 and you can use the mute function on the microphone on both systems. It is not compatible with the EX60.

If it is not working when connected to your EX90, it must either be something wrong withe the Performance Mic 20  or the EX90 microphone input. Please pursue this topic with the TAC in your region or sales support team.

Jonas

hi

In order to place a AV Bridge beetween the mic and the SX20 or C20, Could you provide us a circuit squematic to give the 12 or 11V phamtom to the mic and use it either to make Lynx/webex calls and h323 calls through the sx20 or C20 codecs.

Also we would like to confirm the red/green led for mute feedback. Is this a short relay from ring 2 to GND or ring to 12V. Could we use an IO of some audio mixers/processors to maintain tin the microphone the led lights and to the codec the right status.

Or the other way arround, if we send the api command to sx20, What we have to do on the pins of the microphone to change in acordance it's led status (witth av bridge and the audio processor between mic and sx20).

Sound Control Technologies just introduced the RM-P20 adapter that allows the P20 mic's male TRRS connector to terminate to a female Phoenix 4 pole block, and a dongle featuring a TRRS male to plug into the SX20 codec and female Phoenix 4 pole block.  This has been tested with a 100' CAT cable, taking advantage of the inherent RF rejection.

Hi,

Whe have a lot of MX300-G2 who have only 2 x 4 poles 3.5 mm inputs, in big rooms, two microphones are sometimes not enough, is there a way to use a 4 poles splitter (Y) to connect 4 microphones?

They will be parralel connected, this should change the impedance, will it work?

Thanks,

Philippe
