Can CIP images contain color or are they only limited to 2 bit color depth? Are CIPs only used for the 7940 and 7960 non-color phones?

CIP does not support color - color images can be accomplished using the .png abilities of the xxxFile (i.e. CiscoIPPhoneImageFile) objects, on the phones that support them. Note that all the phones support CIP images, some support .png also.
