Dear team,

Is there integration possibility (API of some sort) for inTouch devices?

Considering they will eventually replace 797X phones in CTS deployments and some of the customers were using apps on the phones it would be great to have customization capabilities for the new touch devices.

New customers would also be interested in customising interface/adding features with API. This will allow using single inTouch device versus two panels in each room (first for VC/TP unit and second for room control). This would significantly improve customer experience.

I would be happy if you could share your plans.

Kind regards,
Dmitry

Hi Dmitry,
currently there are no API or customization capabilities on the InTouch. However, great feedback - we see that this could be very useful for customers wanting to control multiple devices, lighting etc in a room.

Out of curiosity, what kind of functionality did/do the apps on the 797x provide? And what in a room apart from VC are you controlling via Tp (I'm guessing AMX or Crestron)

Cheers,
David

hi  David,

There are number of solutions for Cisco phones on the market like metasys room comfort management and AMX introducing its NXV-CPI.

I think having capability of changing basic elements on inTouch interface, adding couple of buttons would meet needs of many customers.

Of course this would require some kind of backend which can simply be HTTP server receiving requests from the inTouch panel or any similar technology. Anyway it would be up to you to develop this.

I believe that there are numerous options like AMX Netlinx that may serve as control backend for the inTouch interface.

Currently we work with AMX which is used for room and codec control. Having inTouch for smaller deployments where we change only part of the interface would be an advantage where customers are price-sensitive.

Kind regards,
Dmitry

Old thread I know, I saw this thread as well as a few other once before but am experiencing some renewed frustration on it so wanted to reopen the conversation.  Our company would very strongly second a request asking for more extensibility in the Panel UI.

Currently it's not possible to put together a complete "single panel" control solution using the Cisco 8" panel (or 12 for that matter).  Our most common need is to implement additional controls for advanced audio or video switching subsystems that happen to be external to the codec.  Other environmental controls would be nice to see, but I see those as somewhat secondary in nature.

The other deal killer for us and our customers: no ability to remotely gather much information on the panel operation, as in see the display, inventory the serial or validate that the panel firmware upgraded successfully.

These are things that we can do with the 7975 and Creston products pretty well.

Fred,

last things first:
Information about connected panel is being looked at. When you say "see the display"  - you mean just an indication (on the status API) that there is a panel connected or are you thinking more advanced?
To inventory the serial - how do you see this done if you have 100 systems? Would you use TMS? Get info from xstatus.xml? ssh and browse the status? Check the web pages of the codec if it had touch panel info displayed? Same with panel firmware... how/where would you like to see the firmware info.

Regarding a single panel solution:
What would you typically display as controls on the second panel for controlling advanced audio or video switching?
Audio zones with individual volume adjustment? 15 input sources all with names and icons for video sources?...

Regards,
David
