Resolution
The Insufficient resources to create channel-group error message is received due to one of these reasons:
- The IP Communications High-Density Digital Voice/Fax Network Module supports up to 32 data channel groups with a total bandwidth of up to 2 Mbps (refer to Table 6 in IP Communications High-Density Digital Voice/Fax Network Modules. It is possible to configure up to 32 channel-groups but this module can only handle a bandwidth of up to 2 Mbps. Therefore, if the channel-group adds more than 2 Mbps, you receive the Insufficient resources to create channel-group error message.
- There might not be enough dsp available. The show diag command output shows that the router only has 1xPVDM2-8. This only supports a maximum of eight channels in G.711 and four channels in high and medium codec complexity. Refer to High-Density Packet Voice Digital Signal Processor Module for Cisco IP Com Sol for more information.
- The T1 card is inserted in slot 0, as this is reserved for a voice only port. Therefore, the Insufficient resources to create channel-group error message is received when you configure for channel-group (which is data). The dso group works fine because this is regarded as voice. Refer to Overview of Cisco 2800 Series Routers
