Hi there,
I have been trying to figure out how to make a 1080P call using the C20 and just cant seem to make it happen.
HEre is what I have tried:
a) I have set dip switches under camera to 1080p/30
b) I have the codec monitor output to 1080P and using a 1080p monitor
c) Under the camera input (1) and optimal definition, I have set threshold to never and set Profile to "HIGH"
d) tried call speeds of 1mb, 2mb, 4 mb and 6mb
e) setup my codian bridge to RECEIVE and TRANSMIT MAX and set my media ports to HD+ (1080p)
f) applied PRemium resolution Key to the C20
Everytime I try and call, it connects at the desire call rate however my video resolution shows up at 1280x720.
I have tried this on point to point and on my HD bridge (Setup in HD+ mode).
On the C20, I am using software revision: TC3.1.1.220240
What are the required parameters to make a 1080p call on the c-series?
I have tried many times and the video resolution keeps getting down-graded to 1280x720
thanks
JEevan

Hi Jeevan,
a) This is not necessary. You should leave it to 1080p60, otherwise you will never get 60 frames per second.
b) This is not a requirement either.
c) It's necessary to set the threshold to never. Otherwise the codec will prefer 60fps over 1080p. The codec can maximum go up to 1280*720 when using 60fps. The 'High' profile should only be used if you have studio like lighting. I would recommend you to set it back to Normal or Medium depending on how good lighting you have in the room.
d) You need 2.3Mbps to get 1080p when the profile is set to Normal.
e) You are certain that you have the 1080p upgrade option installed on the Codian?
f) Check the System Information menu to make sure that the Premium Resolution option is listed under Options Installed.
You should now be able to make a PtP call between two C20s at 1080p. Just make sure they both have the Premium Resolution option installed and that the 60fps threshold is set to never. As a last point you can execute the command:
'xstatus video input'
Make sure video input 1 reports the input of 1920*1080.
Best regards
Roger

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the feedback. I will try the above and report back. I am pretty sure I have tried everything you have suggested but I will try again.
I am positive I have the "Premium Resolution Key" as it lists the key in the Status page. I will try the command you suggested to confirm.
Would it be the same parameters to connect to a codian bridge (4501) that is put into HD+ MOde? I am experiencing the same issue where the video gets down-graded to 1280x720.
Is there specific logs that I can pull during an initiated call that may assist me in tracking down where I am going wrong?
Thanks for your help as always
Regards
JEevan

Hi Jeevan,
Actually there is a bug in the status page causing it to always list all options as active. To find the correct status you must use the System Information Page in the GUI or execute the API command: 'xstatus systemunit'
Cheers

Hi Roger,
I just checked and the premium resolution is definately there. I pasted the telnet session I had below. Both the input and the premium resolution is there.
I do have the Threshold set to NEVER and the profile now set to NORMAL.
I will continue to test and let you know if your other suggestions help.
Thanks

Hi Jeevan,
This looks all good. How about the other codec you are calling to. Do you have the same data for this one?
Cheers
