Core Issue

There is no procedure to downgrade from a later version of a Cisco CallManager to an earlier version.

Due to format modifications in some tables, the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) does not support backing up in one version of Cisco CallManager and then restoring in a different version.

Resolution

Although there is no official procedure to downgrade from a later version of Cisco CallManager to an earlier version, this procedure may work:

  • Install the earlier version of Cisco CallManager from scratch on a server.
  • Restore the Cisco CallManager database from a backup that was previously saved in the earlier version of the Cisco CallManager.

For example, in order to downgrade from Cisco CallManager version 4.0 to 3.3.4, install version 3.3(4) from scratch on a server, and restore the Cisco CallManager database from a backup that was previously saved in version 3.3(4).

It is not possible to uninstall 4.0(1) to downgrade to 3.3(4) or restore the database in 3.3(4) from a backup saved in version 4.0(1).

This example demonstates how to import data across different versions (3.2 to 3.1):

  • Export the data under Cisco CallManager 3.2 using the 3.2 BAT tool (This will create .csv file).
  • Re-import the data back into Cisco CallManager 3.1 using the 3.1 BAT tool (with the same    .csv file).

Alternatively, the user could create this .csv file manually, and then use it to import them back  into 3.1 using the BAT tool.

CallManager Versions

CallManager 3.x, CallManager 4.x
