Resolution

Perform this procedure to turn ping on or off:

  1. Issue the telnet localhost <port> command to Telnet into the Service Engine (SE), Edge Proxy (EP) or Subscriber Feature Proxy (SFP) Command Line Interface (CLI).
  2. Issue the nehost>context route-mgmt command in the CLI to change the context to route-mgmt.

  3. Issue the nehost[route-mgmt]>ping -s off command at the CLI to turn ping off.

Issue the nehost [route-mgmt]> ping -s on command at the CLI to turn ping on.

  4. Issue the nehost [route-mgmt]>view ping command to verify the status of the issued command type from the CLI.

For more information, refer to these documents:

  • Chapter 10: Next-jop Failover Section 10.4.2 Enabling Server Failover of the Service Engine Admin Guide
  • Chapter 11: Next-jop Failover Section 11.4.2 Enabling Server Failover of the Edge Proxy Admin Guide
  • Chapter 11: Next-jop Failover Section 11.4.2 Enabling Server Failover of the Subscriber Feature Proxy Admin Guide

Note: When a dynamicsoft proxy starts, it reads its configuration from the ds<element>.cfg file (under the install/cfg directory). To permanently turn ping on or off, modify the ds<element>.cfg file, as per your requirements.
