Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 1.1(x)

Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 1.1(x) has no failover of any kind, which includes Cisco Unified Personal Communicator softphone failover and Cisco Unified Presence failover.


Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 1.2

Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 1.2 supports failover/redundancy for these services:

  • softphone Trivial FTP (TFTP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to Cisco Unified Communication Manager

  • third-party phone control Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) to Cisco Unified Communication Manager

  • directory search Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to any directory server

  • voicemail Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) or Transport Layer Security (TLS) to Microsoft Exchange or Cisco Unity Connection

  • web escalation HTTP(S) to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace

Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 1.2 does not support Cisco Unified Presence failover.If Cisco Unified Personal Communicator is the sole voice endpoint to be relied on, it is strongly recommended to switch to 1.2(x) and CUPS 6.

Note:There is no patch available in Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 1.1(x) to enable the failover.
