Is this possible? 2. What "architecture" is needed? (CUCM + any other server? + CUAE? + Third-party development?) 3. What Java version is supported by Cisco? 4. What CUCM resourses are needed?

Subject: RE: Java Apps on Cisco IP Phones Replied by: David Staudt on 08-03-2010 10:42:05 PM The latest Cisco phones do have the capability to run Java 'midlet' applications, however the work needed to make this bullet proof and to provide good documentation/support infrastructure is not yet complete. The current implementation is based on J2ME/MIDP 2.0, and has as been successfully demonstrated in the new Visual Voice Mail applet for Unity, and a select handful of 3rd party developer apps. Please stand by for announcements on the availability of a phone Midlet SDK in the coming months. You did mention 'XML' below...have you investigated the capability of the existing XML services API to provide the needed services?

The IP phones have an XML-over-HTTP 'browser' that allows them to request and display information/pictures/input forms and other stuff on the phone screen, from a server/application that you write using standard web development tools and protocols. You can actually do quite a bit with this interface as-is.
